Mary Eileen (Bargar) Yaw

Mary Eileen Yaw, 98 of Terre Haute, Indiana, formerly of Linton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Terre Haute. She was born on February 12, 1921, in Cadiz, Ohio to Harry and Alice (Walker) Bargar. Eileen married John W. Yaw on May 24, 1941.

Eileen was a member of the Linton First Christian Church and was a founding member and the first president of Psi Iota XI Sorority. She enjoyed playing Bridge and was an IU fan. Eileen worked at Linton High School and was a homemaker.

Family and friends left to cherish the memory of Eileen include: two daughters, Sally J. (Terry) Macy of Aiken, SC and Linda B. Yaw (Mike) Higgins of Terre Haute; three grandchildren, Jon (Dair) Macy of Bloomington, Emily (John) Knight of Doylestown, PA and Thanh (Katie) Higgins of Stanton, CA and six great-grandchildren.

Eileen was preceded in death by: her husband, John Ward Yaw; her parents; her brother, Dale Bargar and sister, Bettie Kittle.

The family expresses appreciation to the staff at Westminster Village in Terre Haute, where she had resided the last five years and to her caretakers, Laverne Young and Karen Calloway.

Funeral services honoring Eileen’s life will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Meng Family Funeral Homes, Anderson-Poindexter Chapel with Warren Shake officiating. Eileen will be laid to rest in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
