Ned B. Kent

Ned B. Kent, 105, of Washington, Indiana, formerly of Sandborn, Indiana went to Heaven peacefully, with loved ones at his side, on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Daviess Community Hospital at Washington. He was born on February 23, 1917, in Taylor Township, Greene County, Indiana, to Clyde and Barbara ‘Ellen’ (Benham) Kent. Ned married the love of his life, Julia Adelyne (McKee) Kent, on December 19, 1948, and they enjoyed 71 years together. 

Ned was a US Army veteran, serving in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and France during WWII. He was a member of the Sandborn Baptist Church, a recipient of the Sagamores of the Wabash, Lyons American Legion Post #479, VFW, DAV. Ned loved gardening and flowers, using his passion to own and operate Ned B. Kent Florist for 27 years. He also worked as a volunteer at Glenburn Nursing Home in Linton, where he earned the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2000.

Family left to cherish the many memories of Ned include, two sons, Jeffrey A. (Mary) Kent of Wheaton, IL and Mark A. (Marilyn) Kent of Williams, IN; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Todd) Anderson, J Kent and partner Andrew, Jessica (Jon McCollor) Kent, Ben Kent and Mandy (Brent) Saucerman, Emily Kent. Great-grandchildren, Luci and Axel Anderson, Reece Kent, Monroe Saucerman and Finn McCollor.

Ned was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Adelyne Kent; brothers, Bill, Jim and George Kent; sisters, Dorothy Lilly, Mary Jane Klaeffling and Julia ‘Judy” Shake.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at 11:00 AM Sandborn Cemetery followed by full military rites. Burial will take place immediately following. It’s suggested to bring a lawn chair for the services.
