Robert ‘Bob’ Brinson, 78, of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025. He was born on November 6, 1946, in Wabash, Indiana to Wayne and Marie (Shorter) Brinson. Bob married the love of his life, Shirley M. (Rhodes) Brinson on May 24, 1969.  

Bob was a member and Deacon of the Bethel Community Church. He was formerly enlisted with the US Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. Once discharged, Bob worked at the Naval Support Activity Crane base and Crane Army Ammunition Activity in their ordinance department. He was a member of the American Legion Post #22 serving as past Post Commander, Post Adjutant, and on the Honor Guard. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #560 F & AM and a Past Master as well as a member of the Linton BPO Elks #866 and a founding member of the Veterans Hall of Honor. Bob was also a District 7 Chaplain and a Department of Indiana Sgt. at Arms.

Family left to cherish the memory of Bob include his wife, Shirley Brinson; sons, Dr. Jim (Shana) Brinson, Dr. Steven (Amanda) Brinson, both of Linton; grandchildren, Emma (Kyle) Anderson, Cora (Jaden) Abrams, Ezekiel Brinson, Gillian Perry, Natalie Brinson, and Nora Brinson; brother, David (Margaret) Brinson; sister, Linda Tucker.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Hugh ‘Bud’, Gary, Harold ‘Mike’, and Winston ‘Pat’ Brinson, sisters, Wanda Siders, Mary Siders, Beverly Smith, and Helen Palmer.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Bob will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Randy Tucker officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #22 and the US Navy. Bob will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 28, at the funeral home. Masonic Memorial Service will be held on Thursday 7:00 PM and the BPO Elks Memorial Services will follow. 

Memorial Contributions can be made to the Veterans Hall of Honor. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
