Russell 'Rusty' Cox Obituary

Russell Dean ‘Rusty’ Cox, 65, of Dugger, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at his residence. He was born in Sullivan, Indiana, on May 19,1954, to Russell E. and Snoda J. (Patton) Cox.  Rusty married Kathy J. (Fifer) on the 30th day of December 1978.

Rusty worked for several years at the Worthington Packing Plant and then drove a school bus for 10 years for the Union Dugger School. He was last employed with Advics Manufacturing and retired from this position in 2017.

Rusty was a member of the Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church of Sullivan.  He enjoyed coaching baseball and was an avid Cardinals fan; he even tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals team in 1972.  He loved the outdoors and spent much of his time, mushroom hunting, fishing, mowing, and gardening.  Rusty most importantly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. 

Loved ones left to cherish Rusty’s memory include: his wife, Kathy Cox; one son, Dustin (Brooke) Cox of Sullivan; one daughter, Kallie Cox (Brian Michael) of Dugger; four grandchildren, Adin & Blake Cox, Easton & Ella Tipton; and a brother, Ron (Elaine) Cox of Dugger. 

Rusty’s parents and a brother, Randy, precede in death.

Funeral services to honor Rusty’s life will be at on Tuesday, May 5th, 2020, at the Meng Family Funeral Home / Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Pastor Steve Talpas and Glen Willis officiating. Rusty will be laid to rest in the Dugger Cemetery.

A private family visitation (to comply with current social restrictions) will be May 5th, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, C/O Amanda Jewell, 7639 E. Scott Street, Dugger, IN 47848.
