Violet C. Hughbanks, 80, of Linton, Indiana, went to Heaven with family by her side at her home, on Friday, October 24, 2025. She was born on May 3, 1945, in Terre Haute, Indiana to John T. and Essie l. (Miller) Shepherd. Violet married Curtis Hughbanks and after his passing, she married Willard A. Shipley.

Violet was of the Pentecostal faith. She was employed as a salesclerk and then worked in home healthcare for many years.

Family left to cherish the memories of Violet include: two sons, Paul David Hughbanks and Harrison Bert Hughbanks, both of Florida; two daughters, Carla Jean Lopez of Linton and Opal Leann Hughbanks of Florida; stepdaughter, Mary Sue Fleetwood of Bloomington; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one sister, Ethel Marie Braunsdorf of Maryville, TN.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Curtis Hughbanks; her second husband, Willard Shipley; son, Tony Hughbanks; three brothers, two sisters, one step-daughter and one stepson.

Funeral services to honor the life of Violet will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Chaplain Ken Coffman officiating. Violet will be laid to rest in Sassafras Cemetery in Linton. 

Family and friends may call from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
